Role DescriptionThis is a full-time, on-site Chef role based at Van Gogh Cottage nesr the Oval in London. The Chef will plan and prepare daily menus, including grab & go daytime options, tea and dinner, ensuring dishes are consistently high quality and aligned with the tri-border concept of the Amazon. Responsibilities include managing inventory, maintaining kitchen cleanliness and food safety standards, and coordinating timing of dishes during service. The Chef will collaborate with management to design seasonal menus, accommodate dietary requirements, and support special events or private functions. The role also involves training and guiding kitchen assistants, managing waste and cost efficiency, and contributing to a positive, guest-focused atmosphere.
Qualifications- Professional culinary training or equivalent experience in a restaurant, hotel, or other hospitality setting.
- Strong skills in menu planning, food preparation, and plating, with an eye for creativity and presentation.
- Solid knowledge of food safety, hygiene regulations, and kitchen best practices, including allergen and dietary considerations.
- Experience managing inventory and controlling food costs and waste.
- Ability to work effectively and across duties during peak service times, prioritize tasks, and maintain calm under pressure.
- Good communication and collaboration skills to work closely with front-of-house and management teams.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by guest demand.
- Previous experience in London or similar urban hospitality markets is beneficial; familiarity with local ingredients and trends is a plus.
- Preferably someone who has worked with either Peruvian, Brazilian or Colombian cuisine before OR is a quick learner.
