Job Description

Berkeley Scott is seeking an Education Chef to join their team in Southampton for temporary, term time work starting in September. The role involves preparing and cooking meals within school kitchens across the local area, offering weekday shifts with weekends off. Competitive weekly pay is provided, with opportunities to secure permanent placements or take on additional work during holidays.

What You'll Be Doing as an Education Chef
  • Prepare and cook nutritious, balanced meals for students and staff.
  • Plan menus in line with school guidelines and dietary requirements.
  • Ensure high standards of food hygiene, safety, and kitchen cleanliness.
  • Manage stock, order supplies, and minimise waste.
  • Supervise and support kitchen assistants during service.
  • Adhere to all food safety and health & safety regulations.
What We Are Looking For
  • Minimum 6 months experience as a senior chef, preferably in a school or similar environment.
  • Right to work in the UK; sponsorship is not available.
  • Enhanced DBS with child workforce or willingness to obtain.
  • Strong, reliable, and excellent communication skills.
  • A passion for providing healthy meals for children and young people.
  • Minimum Level 2 Food Safety and Allergens certification, with additional compliance training provided free of charge.
