Job Description

Location: MARS Hotel Seaview, Blackpool

Job Type: Part Time / Full Time

Qualification: Culinary diploma or relevant certification preferred.

Experience: Minimum 2-3 years of experience required with knowledge of local and international cuisine.

Salary: £16 per hour

Job Overview

The Chef is responsible for preparing high-quality food according to menu specifications while maintaining hygiene standards and ensuring smooth kitchen operations. The role requires creativity, consistency, and adherence to food safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities Food Preparation & Production
  • Prepare and cook menu items according to standard recipes.
  • Ensure food quality, taste, and presentation meet restaurant standards.
  • Maintain portion control and minimize food wastage.
  • Assist in menu planning and development of new dishes when required.
Kitchen Operations
  • Ensure smooth kitchen operations during service hours.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen workstations.
  • Monitor stock levels and notify management for replenishment.
  • Store food items properly using the FIFO (First In, First Out) method.
Hygiene & Safety
  • Follow food safety and sanitation standards at all times.
  • Maintain personal hygiene and grooming standards.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards immediately.
Cost Control
  • Control food costs and reduce wastage.
  • Monitor expiry dates and proper storage of ingredients.
  • Assist in stock taking and inventory management.
Teamwork
  • Coordinate effectively with kitchen and service staff.
  • Assist in training junior kitchen staff when required.
  • Maintain professional communication with team members.
