Centre Manager (Maternity Cover)

Location: Sanderson Arcade, Morpeth, Northumberland

Contract: Fixed-term - Maternity Cover - Approx. 9-12 Months

Reporting to: Operations Director

Centre Management is 40 hours per week covering Saturdays & Sundays alongside Assistant Centre Manager.

Salary: Dependent on Experience

Role Purpose

The Centre Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of Sanderson Arcade, ensuring the shopping centre is safe, well-presented, commercially successful, and provides an excellent experience for retailers, visitors, and stakeholders during the maternity cover period.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the daily operations of the shopping centre, ensuring smooth and efficient running.
• Act as the main point of contact for retailers, managing relationships and responding to queries or issues.
• Oversee centre presentation, cleanliness, maintenance, and health & safety compliance.
• Manage on-site contractors and service partners (e.g. cleaning, security, maintenance).
• Handle customer enquiries, feedback, and complaints in a professional manner.
• Monitor centre performance and support initiatives to drive footfall and enhance the customer experience.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and statutory requirements.
• Maintain accurate records and provide regular updates to senior management.
• Support a clear handover at the start and end of the maternity cover period.

Person Specification

• Experience in retail, shopping centre, or property management.
• Strong communication and relationship management skills.
• Good understanding of health & safety and operational compliance.
• Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities.
• Confident dealing with retailers, customers, and contractors
• Previous experience managing a shopping centre or retail environment.
• Knowledge of facilities or contractor management.
• Familiarity with retail KPIs, footfall, or customer experience initiatives.

This is a fixed-term maternity cover role focused on maintaining high operational standards and positive retailer and customer relationships at Sanderson Arcade.
