Due to the increase of treatment and care we give to patients, our departments in our Plymouth based hospital are all expanding and this is leading to many new job opportunities being up for grabs!

To further enhance our patients' experience and to make them and their families feel as comfortable as possible, we are in need of additional Catering Assistant's to join our friendly and close knit catering team.

We have permanent full time positions available (37.5 per week)

Working shift patterns from Monday to Sunday

Early Shift - 0700 - 1500
Late shift - 1030 - 1830

What you'll be doing

As a Catering Assistant you'll be responsible for providing an efficient, high quality and dedicated food and beverage service to our patients, visitors and staff in the hospital.

Currently there are two food and beverage sections in the hospital which are overseen by the Catering Team and then there are the wards themselves.

  • Main Café - undertaking of simple food preparation tasks including light meals, ensuring food preparation areas and the main consuming area (tables, chairs and floor) is kept clean and hygienic at all times.
  • Kitchen - preparing and serving breakfasts, lunches, and dinners, ensuring a clean and tidy environment and operating the dishwashing machine to process crockery and cutlery.
  • Wards - need to understand the devised menus and communicate with patients regarding their menu choices, acting on any dietary requests for additional or alternative food or beverage requirements, in addition you will need to inform staff of any patient who has refused or not eaten much of their meal for onward management.
  • General - involved in audit process processes and ensuring stock levels maintained and on sale stock items visible and replenished.
