Role: Category Manager - Grocery

Level: L08

Location: One Station Hill, Reading (Periodic Customer/Field Travel)

We are seeking a Category Manager to join the Grocery team. The incumbent will be responsible for implementing the multi-year strategy and disproportionately grow the sales of PepsiCo's portfolio of brands. The role take direct responsibility for translating insight into simple, actionable choices related to range, distribution, space and promotions. This is a critical role that will work closely with the relevant Commercial teams as part of a matrix organisation to represent the voice of the category, talk confidently about the latest consumer trends and to keep the business up to date on the external landscape.

Responsibilities
  • Category Development: develop comprehensive 'category action plans' that are aligned to the multi-year strategy and AOP objectives. This includes conducting market analysis, assessing competitive landscape and identifying growth opportunities.
  • Category Planning: collaborate with the Perfect Store, Sales and Marketing teams to determine the optimal range, planograms and promotions for the category. Analyse sales data, consumer trends and customer feedback to make informed decisions.
  • Activation & Planning: develop recommendations for the category to drive sales and maximize profitability. Collaborate with Marketing, Shopper Marketing and Sales to execute promotional and brand campaigns effectively (e.g. events).
  • Performance Management: track and analyse the key performance metrics, such as sales, distribution and rate of sale. Identify areas for improvement and implement course-correction tactics to drive continuous growth.
  • Market Trends: stay informed about industry trends, consumer preferences, and competitor activities. Use insights to adapt category strategies and stay ahead of market changes.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: work closely with various internal and external teams to collaborate on NPD launches, campaigns, promotional activities and other initiatives.
Qualifications
  • 3-5 years working within Category Management or closely related functions within FMCG.
  • Direct experience of working within the Organised Trade channel is preferred.
  • Credible examples of category-first or 'triple-win' thinking is a must.
  • Experience of leading range reviews and landing customer proposals to grow the category.
  • Fluency with complex data sources (e.g. Nielsen, Kantar) and space planning tools (e.g. JDA).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint).
