Overview

Case Administrators support probation teams by ensuring all administrative processes run efficiently, maintaining systems, and collating probation information for case files. The role allows individuals to develop skills within the Probation Service, working across a range of settings including courts, prisons and community-based units. Successful applicants will receive a starting salary of £24,645 (pro rated for part time) and access to the Civil Service pay progression framework.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate case files and administrative systems.
  • Ensure all processes run efficiently and systems are properly managed.
  • Collate and prepare probation information for case files.
  • Handle enquiries from colleagues, agencies and people on probation in a busy environment using strong communication skills.
  • Work within a variety of settings, including Accredited Programmes, Structured Interventions, Attendance Centres, Community Integration, Courts, Integrated Offender Management, Performance & Quality, Personality Disorder Projects, Prisons, Public Protection (Custody and Community) and the Homeless Prevention Taskforce.
  • Support probation staff in managing and monitoring individuals on probation.

Eligibility

Candidates must have the right to work in the UK and the Civil Service. This role is not eligible for new Skilled Worker visa sponsorship from 22 July 2025 and will only consider applicants who held such a visa prior to that date. All successful candidates will undergo standard security and identity checks.
