A primary school in Plymouth is actively seeking a caring and committed Primary SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team. This role is perfect for individuals with a background in education or those with strong transferable skills who are passionate about working within SEND to make a meaningful impact on children's learning and wellbeing.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Work closely with class teachers and support staff to help pupils with special educational needs access learning, build confidence, and stay emotionally regulated throughout the school day.
- Provide support on a one-to-one basis, through small group interventions, or as part of wider classroom support.
- Employ a calm, empathetic, and flexible approach, adjusting support in response to individual pupil needs.
- Ensure a nurturing and inclusive school environment that fosters learning and development.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Patient, calm, and nurturing approach.
- Confidence in supporting children with SEND.
- Flexibility to respond to varying learning styles and emotional needs.
- Comfortable working collaboratively as part of a team.
- Experience in a school, care, or support setting is advantageous, but not essential. Applicants with relevant transferable skills from backgrounds in care, youth work, or similar supporting roles are also welcome.
