Cards Platform Migration Director

As part of Barclays' overall strategy and simplification, in January 2025 we announced the completion of the sale of the Consumer Bank Europe (CBE) Business in Germany to the BAWAG Group. In line with our commitments as part of the sale agreement, Barclays will continue to run Cards, Payments, and other Platforms for the separated business through a series of Transitional Services Agreements (TSAs) for up to a 27-month period.
The Cards Platform Migration Director will be recruited into CBP (Consumer Banking & Payments) Technology to lead all Technology aspects of the TSA provision and collaborate with BAWAG counterparts to plan and execute the migration to BAWAG platforms. Upon completion of the migration, the role holder will be responsible for decommissioning all CBE Technology Platforms hosted by Barclays and for the safe disposal of BAWAG data.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the delivery of Technology Services for BAWAG provided by Barclays under TSAs.
- Accountable for delivering Portfolio Change Delivery (PCD) to BAWAG and chair governance and planning meetings to meet obligations.
- Manage estimating, impact assessments, delivery, and reporting to BAWAG; ensure billing accuracy monthly.
- Lead the separation of CBE/BAWAG from Barclays infrastructure and oversee data migration and platform decommissioning.
- Ensure BAWAG-specific platforms are decommissioned, data is deleted per legal requirements, and ongoing service ownership is transferred.
- Collaborate with other Barclays teams to plan cost savings post-TSA, including demand reduction and capacity reallocation.
- Lead a team of approximately 20 direct reports and 40 wider team members.
Manage people, processes, and technologies within IT to deliver outcomes supporting business goals.

- Manage the technology team, including hiring, training, mentoring, and resource allocation.
- Manage technology budgets, prioritizing investments, optimizing costs, and mitigating financial risks.
- Advise senior management and influence strategic initiatives.
- Coordinate resourcing, budgeting, and policy creation.
- Ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
- Monitor external environment and advocate for Barclays.
- Maintain industry and sector knowledge, and external market awareness.
- Use analytical skills to solve complex problems and design solutions.
- Make strategic decisions and influence stakeholders internally and externally.
- Act as principal contact for key clients and partners.
- Represent the function and division externally as a spokesperson.
