Job Description
Lumbry Park Veterinary Specialists is a large, multidisciplinary referral hospital providing veterinary services across the South of England, including London and the Thames Valley. Our specialist services include Anaesthesia and Analgesia, Orthopaedic Surgery, Neurology and Neurosurgery, Internal Medicine, Soft Tissue Surgery, Ophthalmology, Dermatology, Cardiology, Dentistry, Emergency and Critical Care, Oncology, and Diagnostic Imaging.
The hospital is an ISFM Gold Standard Feline Clinic, a Dogs Trust Dog Friendly Clinic, and has received the BVHA Design Award for its outstanding working environment. We are part of CVS (UK) Ltd, the largest provider of integrated veterinary services in the UK. The referrals division currently operates eight referral hospitals across the UK and Ireland.
We are seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Cardiology Nurse to join our existing day team of RVNs, PCAs, and a specialist-led referral team. We actively support professional development, and several of our nursing team hold postgraduate qualifications.
In this rewarding role, the successful candidate will need excellent communication skills to ensure that our clients and referring practices receive outstanding service. You will be patient and compassionate when caring for our often-fragile patients, supporting them throughout their diagnostic investigations. You should be capable of working independently when required, whilst also demonstrating strong teamwork skills to ensure effective communication and collaboration within the cardiology team and across all hospital departments.
You will support our clinicians using your computer literacy, including tasks such as sending ECG recordings for reporting and arranging external laboratory tests. Our cardiology nurses work closely with the reception team and our referral coordinator to triage the referral caseload, as well as conducting regular wellbeing phone calls for our long-term chronic patients.
We provide an eight-week induction programme to help you settle into your new role and become familiar with the team. We are looking for an RVN with a solid understanding of cardiology who, following induction, feels confident in supporting patients during cardiology procedures. You should possess, or be willing to develop, the confidence to apply monitoring equipment, such as Holter monitors, to patients.
We offer an exceptional remuneration package, including 5 weeks' annual leave (pro rata) plus bank holidays, an enhanced contributory pension scheme, and a competitive salary commensurate with experience, alongside a range of additional benefits.
We are deeply committed to the wellbeing of our staff. Our wellness programme includes an Employee Assistance Programme with Health Assured, an optional Health Shield cash plan, Mental Health First Aiders, and in-practice Wellbeing Champions.
We also support career progression with a generous CPD (Continuing Professional Development) allowance and allocated time off. CVS offers a wide range of internal CPD courses, not solely focused on clinical development, to support team members in broadening their skill sets. There are also opportunities for involvement in clinical research and teaching.
We are committed to promoting a healthy work-life balance and welcome discussions around flexible working hours, including full-time and part-time
