The Opportunity: We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced and motivated individual to join our Canterbury Industries team as the next Laboratory Manager. In this role, you will ultimately be responsible for effectively managing the safety, quality, efficiency and financial success of the Canterbury Laboratory Department. In addition to the above you will: Plan and organise all laboratory activities and workflow, from sampling, analysis and the review of results signoff. Provide leadership, support and direction to laboratory staff, while fostering a collaborative and cohesive team environment. Drive quality and efficiency through training and mentoring of laboratory staff. Oversee and prepare the laboratory for IANZ Audits to ensure compliance with ISO 17025. Manage financial performance, ensuring optimisation of financial outcomes. Effectively manage client relationships ensuring continued success, both internally and externally. To be successful in this role, you will have: A relevant trade qualification in materials testing or similar. Proven experience managing a laboratory, ensuring high-quality outcomes and efficient use of resources. Extensive knowledge of asphalt production principals and practical applications (mix designs). A competent understanding of material properties. Strong financial and business acumen. Experience managing and developing teams of significant size to ensure continued success and growth opportunities. The ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise work. Demonstrated leadership capability with a strong focus on people, safety and quality. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with varying levels of stakeholders. Problem solving abilities.You will be a supportive and collaborative leader with a passion for developing and growing talent.
