Mechanical & Electrical BIM Technician

Location: Belfast, Warrenpoint or Dublin (office-based with occasional site visits)
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 DOE

The Opportunity

Reed Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting for a Mechanical & Electrical BIM Technician on behalf of a growing construction and engineering business. This is an excellent opportunity for a BIM professional with Revit MEP experience to join a collaborative team delivering a variety of commercial, industrial, residential and infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce and maintain mechanical and electrical BIM models using Autodesk Revit MEP.
• Develop detailed 2D drawings, layouts, sections, schedules and installation drawings from BIM models.
• Model mechanical and electrical services including ductwork, pipework, containment systems and specialist equipment.
• Coordinate M&E services with architectural, structural and other building services disciplines.
• Carry out clash detection and support the resolution of coordination issues using Revit and Navisworks.
• Review engineering drawings, project specifications and site information, incorporating updates into BIM models.
• Produce construction and installation drawings to agreed project standards.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date BIM information throughout the project lifecycle.
• Work in line with BIM Execution Plans, modelling standards and project information requirements.
• Liaise with engineers, project managers, subcontractors and site teams to resolve technical queries.
• Attend site visits and project meetings as required.
• Deliver work to project deadlines while maintaining exceptional quality and attention to detail.

Essential Requirements

• Minimum 2 years' experience in a BIM, Revit MEP, CAD or M&E Building Services role.
• Strong working knowledge of Autodesk Revit MEP.
• Experience producing mechanical and electrical BIM models and technical drawings.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Understanding of mechanical and electrical building services and their coordination within construction projects.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and construction information.
• Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines.

Desirable Skills & Experience

• Experience using Navisworks and clash detection software.
• Knowledge of Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) / BIM 360.
• Understanding of BIM Execution Plans and BIM project delivery processes.
• Knowledge of ISO 19650 and BIM standards across the UK and Ireland.
• Experience on commercial, residential, industrial, healthcare or data-centre projects.
• Experience producing installation and construction-stage models and drawings.
• Familiarity with COBie, IFC and Uniclass classifications.

Qualifications

Candidates may come from a range of educational backgrounds; however, the following would be advantageous:

• HNC/HND, BTEC, Level 3, 4 or 5 qualification.
• Apprenticeship or equivalent practical experience.
• Qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services, BIM, Construction or a related discipline.
• BIM or Revit certification.
