A Power Network Craftsperson has responsibility for the safe construction, maintenance, and repair of the UK's electrical power network, to provide a safe and reliable supply of electricity to the country. This involves working at various locations across the UK's power network.
The occupation exists within an industry with a high level of safety critical activities, so there is a requirement for a disciplined and responsible approach to work. The work requires a good level of physical ability to access and egress work positions.
Your Key Responsibilities & Accountability on completion of apprenticeship:
- There are three specialisms within this occupation:
Apprenticeship candidates will normally have attained 3 to 5 GCSEs at grades A to C (including mathematics, English, and a science), or equivalent qualifications.
The successful candidate will be required to commit to a 36-month apprenticeship with Quartzelec starting in September 2024. Upon completion you will be offered a permanent position as an authorised Cable Jointer.
The apprenticeship will involve several block release study weeks at Utility & Construction Training Centre (UCT) Trafford Park, Manchester therefore travel is an essential part of this apprenticeship with several occasions of working / studying away from home.
The following qualifications are attained through this apprenticeship.
- Technical Certificate C&G 2304-17 in Electrical Power
- Engineering Level 2
- SHEA Power (EUSR)
- BESC Basic Electrical Safety Competence (EUSkills)
Due to the location of the work and college, successful applicants will need to hold a full driving licence and have access to their own transport.
