About The Role

Working Hours: 17.5 Hours Per Week (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday)

Contract Type: Part-Time, Temporary for 18 months

  • Language proficiency - evidence in one of the following languages: Czech, Farsi, Hungarian, Polish, Romanian, Somali.
Responsibilities
  • Multi-task under pressure, organise workload, and meet deadlines.
  • Engage with stakeholders to identify information needs and obtain relevant information.
  • Handle enquiries/queries from internal/external customers and vendors in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Work independently to resolve queries and know when to escalate to management following the organisation's process and timelines.
Essential Skills
  • Speak in at least one of the following languages: Czech, Farsi, Hungarian, Polish, Romanian, Somali with evidence of proficiency.
  • Work with various organisations and stakeholders, using the right language.
  • Continuous development and improve the service.
  • Promote diversity and inclusion, ensuring fair treatment.
  • Numeracy and literacy for calculations, email responding and enquiries.
Desirable Requirements
  • Experience working with Microsoft packages, preparing spreadsheets, and responding to email accurately.
  • Business Support and Administration experience.
  • Flexible when priorities shift.
  • Complete paperwork and correspondence to high standard and on time.
About the Service wines

M-Four Communication & Language Support Service (M-FOUR CALSS) helps Manchester City Council communicate better with people from ethnic minority and disabled communities. Our goal is to remove language and cultural barriers so everyone can access council services and information equally.

What We Do
  • Provide interpreters for over 60 spoken languages and British Sign Language.
  • Translate documents and publications into different languages, Braille and accessible formats.
  • Work with council departments to make information available to everyone.
  • Train and manage a team of interpreters, translators and language specialists, partnering with universities.
  • Promote Manchester as a leader in language and cultural diversity.
