Our two-year programme is designed to provide you with the skills and experience to help you progress your career and contribute to Arbuthnot Latham's continuing success. It will be delivered in on-the-job learning which aligns to your level 3 Apprenticeship course, with overviews from other parts of the Bank, exposure to Senior Leaders and opportunities to work on projects. On successful completion of the programme, your training, experience and your Level 3 external qualification will equip you with excellent career prospects.
The programme is designed for students completing A level or equivalent education in 2025 or 2026 looking for their first professional role.
During the programme, you can expect to:

The successful candidate must have permission to work in the UK. The apprenticeship will start on 7th September 2026
The Role
- The Business Support Apprentice role will primarily focus on completion of the monthly first line of defence testing. The role also provides valuable support to the Banking frontline staff with day-to-day queries and to the Business Support Managers in the completion of ad hoc projects.
- In addition, the role will involve supporting Banking frontline staff with the controlling and monitoring of lending portfolios.
Key Responsibilities:
Risk:
- Accurately complete monthly First Line of Defence (FLoD) control testing for Commercial & Private Banking.
- Responsible for coordinating and updating remedial action completed by Banking teams.
- Monitor lending covenant records for the bank are completed accurately and on time
- Develop and ensure that good MI is available for portfolio control purposes including exposure levels to different lending sectors
- Responsible for managing risks inherent to the role by diligently observing internal policies and procedures.
- Support the Business Support Managers to ensure that projects re delivered and embedded within agreed deadlines.
- Identify ways to improve front office procedures based on FLoD testing outcomes.
- Coordinate with relevant areas of the Bank to deliver seamless client service to the Banking relationship teams and their clients.
- Use information gathered through control testing and monitoring, to identify opportunities for process enhancements to benefit clients and Banking relationship teams.
Team admin:
- Monitor the team's internal mailbox to provide support to the Banking relationship teams.
- Support with internal and external requests for the provision of ad hoc information
- Proactively identifying and analysing trends from FLoD testing, recommending the appropriate action to resolve issues identified.
- Producing reports or presentations to communicate key FLoD findings to relevant stakeholders.
- Assist with internal projects and local continuous improvement initiatives.
- Supporting with the communication of process changes, including submission of articles to the weekly Banking communication.

Knowledge/Experience/Skills:
- Experience in an office environment is preferred but not essential
- Ability to manage your time effectively and prioritise your work to meet deadlines
- Solid written and verbal communications skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work collaboratively, develop good working relationships and build your internal network
- Strong interest in Banking and Financial Services
- Ability to adapt to change and learn new technologies
- Competence using Microsoft Office programs - Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Qualifications:
- Educated to A-Levels or equivalent
- You must not already have a qualification in a similar subject at the same level, or higher level than this apprenticeship
