About The Role

Join us in revolutionising risk insight, analysis and reporting across MO. We're driving the evolution and integration of risk activities, creating a more sustainable model that maximises efficiency and accuracy.

Delivering innovative, user-friendly and reliable business reporting and analysis that meets key stakeholder requirements is our mission. We identify trends and make strategic recommendations for future focus and development.

Support our Business Risk team in achieving both short-term and long-term objectives, ensuring the Executive and governance committees have the assurance that risks are effectively captured, controlled, and remain within the set risk appetite.

Who you'll be working with

The Business Risk team are part of the Business Risk & Compliance function that sits within the Finance Division.

The team is a key component of MO's second line function as part of MO's approach to the 3 lines model for risk management. Risk is owned by the first line business areas with the Business Risk team supporting, advising and capturing key risks and ensuring the appropriate approach to mitigation and control, ensuring risks are managed within the appetite defined by the business.

About You

You're someone who enjoys working with data and solving problems. You know your way around Excel and feel confident using it to explore information and build simple tools that make everyday tasks easier. You may have started using Power BI or automation tools, or you might be keen to learn. Either way, you're curious and ready to build those skills with support.

You're interested in how things work, and you enjoy asking questions to find out more. You like speaking to people, understanding their challenges, and helping them improve how they work. You feel confident communicating with different teams and can represent your own team in a clear, professional way.

You don't need to be an expert in everything, but you do need to bring the right mindset. We're looking for someone who:

  • Is confident using Excel
  • Is interested in tools like Power BI or process automation
  • Enjoys working with others and asking thoughtful questions
  • Likes to stay organised and gets satisfaction from getting the details right
  • Enjoys learning new things and getting involved in solving real problems

This placement gives you the chance to apply your technical skills and develop new ones in a real business environment. You'll help turn data and insight, including Management Information (MI), into practical tools and reporting that support better decisions. You'll work with teams across the organisation to help them manage risk in smarter and more effective ways.

Minimum criteria

You'll need all of these.

  • Thriving in the second year of your technical degree that includes a year in industry
  • Able to confidently use Excel and wants to build strong automation and Power BI skills
  • Excited to join us in our Bristol office at least three days a week
  • Eager to start in July 2026

Recruitment Stages
  1. Application Stage: Submit your CV; Response to four questions
  2. Video Assessment: One way video assessment; You will answer 5 questions by video response; You are given 6 days to complete your video assessment from when you receive your invitation
  3. Virtual Interview: You will meet with one of our Early Careers Recruitment team; These interviews aim to take place between 31st October- 3rd November 2025
  4. Assessment Centre: You will be invited to attend a final stage assessment centre, which typically involves an interview with the two assessors and an activity; The assessment centre is a whole day with us in our Bristol office; The assessment centre for this role is 26th November 2025

If you are successful at the Assessment Centre stage, you will be offered the role to begin 6th July 2026.
