Operations & Compliance Manager required in an independent school in Chelsea
Salary range £40,000-45,000 - dependent on experience. Hours: 8am to 5pm term-time and INSET, 8am to 4pm during school holidays. All year round.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the school to provide operational and compliance support, working in close partnership with the Head and staff team to ensure that the school runs efficiently and complies with all aspects of the independent school standards. The Operations & Compliance Manager will line manage the office administrator and catering assistant and oversee the regular and occasional contractors who provide services across the school. The Operations Manager will report daily to the Head and work closely with the Group Compliance Manager and Finance team to ensure effective and efficient running of the school.
General- To promote and safeguard the welfare of pupils
- To comply with the school's safeguarding and child protection policy and ensure that any concerns relating to the safety or welfare of children are reported immediately to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
- To work within the framework provided by the school's policies and procedures to fulfil the general aims and objectives of the school and to carry out the roles outlined in their respective job descriptions to the highest level
- To read other policies and guidance as and when required to do so by the DSL, Head or other members of the Senior Leadership Team
- To act consistently, in a calm supportive manner with colleagues
- To attend staff meetings, open days, briefings, parent events, INSET days and support other school events as required
- To communicate in a timely and effective manner with parents
- To undertake other specific duties which may, from time to time, be reasonably requested by the Head
- To meet all deadlines for the efficient running of the school
- To collate pupil and statistical data for monthly reporting to the LA, the Head and the Group
- To manage the monthly payroll adjustments and submit to the Group Payroll Officer
- To liaise with Group Finance to manage the school budget, including invoicing
- To manage, with the Head, staff salaries as required
- To lead the Bursary process, liaising with parents and the Bursary Diligence contractor, providing recommendations to the Head on the allocation of Bursary funds
- To lead on iSAMS management (MIS)
- To lead on GDPR across the school
- To support the Head and SLT in the recruitment of staff as required
- To lead all safer recruiting and vetting checks required by new members of staff, third party suppliers, agency staff, contractors and volunteers as appropriate
- To provide leadership and management of those contractors involved in outsourced estate maintenance, Health and Safety and cleaning contracts
- Support visitor management - including meeting and escorting as required
- To have overall responsibility for delivering and managing the improvements, maintenance and cleaning of the school
- To ensure the effective maintenance and security of the building
- To oversee any capital development projects
- To agree and oversee a rolling 5-year maintenance programme for the building, overseeing any work projects, ensuring timely on budget delivery
- To maintain all H&S matters, policies, procedures and other issues
- To manage and maintain the routine health, safety and compliance checks
- To be the school lead for Every - ensuring all H&S and compliance checks are logged in accordance with the school and Group policies
- To maintain and update all risk assessments related to health & Safety; liaise with contractors and ensure safer recruitment procedures are followed for the same
- To liaise with the Group IT Director and the outsourced IT services provider and act as onsite IT support and point of contact as required
- In consultation with the Group IT Director co-ordinate the development, installation and maintenance of appropriate IT and telecommunications infrastructure for the school
- Support the Head and SLT with the development of IT in line with Group and school digital education strategy and priorities

- IOSH qualification (desirable)
- Proven management skills

- Evidence of operational leadership with direct line management
- Previous experience/knowledge of the Single Central Register document and safer recruitment process
- Writing and implementation of risk assessments and policies
