Business Analyst
Role Purpose:
To act as a critical conduitbetween stakeholders, technical teams, and delivery leadership by translatingcomplex user, data, and regulatory requirements into clear and actionable userstories. The Business Analyst will ensure that the platform aligns with NHSworkflows and the data governance and compliance needs of the medical deviceindustry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Stakeholder Engagement and Discovery:
- Lead requirements-gathering workshops with NHSprocurement teams, clinicians, Trust IT staff, manufacturers, suppliers,and regulatory bodies such as MHRA.
- Validate and refine findings from the Alpha phase (e.g.,stakeholder personas, user profiles, and service blueprints) to develop anuanced understanding of user needs and operational workflows.
- Requirements Definition and User Story Creation:
- Translate complex business and regulatoryrequirements into clear user stories with defined acceptance criteria,using agile delivery tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps).
- Ensure that all user stories incorporate medicaldevice data requirements, such as GS1 standards, UDI-DI, GMDN codes, NHSeClass classifications, and data sharing protocols.
- Support for Product and Delivery Planning:
- Collaborate with the Product Lead and TechnicalArchitect to ensure user needs and constraints are reflected in theprioritised backlog and technical designs.
- Contribute to sprint planning, backlog grooming,and end-of-sprint reviews, ensuring traceability of business requirementsthrough to delivery.
- Data and Compliance Alignment:
- Map data dependencies and ensure workflows supportNHS procurement, regulatory reporting, and data validation requirements.
- Work closely with data engineers to definebusiness rules for data quality, validation, and cleansing.
- Ensure system behaviour aligns with regulatoryframeworks such as UK MDR, MHRA guidelines, NHS Information StandardsNotices (ISNs), and DSP Toolkit expectations.
- User Acceptance and Service Integration:
- Coordinate with NHS Trusts and supplier users todevelop UAT plans and validate Beta functionality.
- Ensure new features and APIs are fit forintegration with Trust systems, manufacturer PIMs, and regulatoryendpoints (e.g., DORS, MORE).
Essential Experience andSkills:
- Demonstrable experience as a Business Analyst ondigital programmes within healthcare, medical devices, or regulated publicsector environments.
- In-depth knowledge of medical device informationstandards and taxonomies, including:
- GS1 UDI and GMDN coding schemes
- UDI-DI data model and NHS eClass categorisation
- Strong familiarity with NHS procurement workflowsand the device information needs of stakeholders such as:
- Clinical engineers, procurement officers, andbiomedical equipment managers
- Experience working in agile delivery teams, withexcellent backlog management and user story writing skills.
- Ability to work closely with multi-disciplinarydelivery teams, including user researchers, service designers, dataengineers, and developers.
- Prior experience with integration-heavy platformsinvolving system-to-system interfaces (e.g., NHS Supply Chain Catalogue,GHX, manufacturer PIM systems).
- Knowledge of interoperability standards (e.g., HL7FHIR, RESTful APIs for healthcare data).
- Experience mapping and validating data lineage andtransformation requirements across multiple sources and stakeholders.
- Experience contributing to solutions delivered onAzure and familiarity with Azure DevOps or similar tools.
Certifications (Preferred butNot Mandatory):
- BCS Practitioner Certificate in Business AnalysisPractice
- IIBA Certified Business Analysis Professional(CBAP)
- Familiarity with Microsoft Azure environments is anadvantage, especially in projects using Azure Data Factory, SQL, orService Bus.
