Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust is offering an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice Administrator to join our Cardiology Admin Team at Alexandra Hospital, Redditch. This Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship offers a salary, valuable work experience, new skills, and support to achieve a recognised professional qualification.

Apprenticeship: Business Administrator Level 3 (Advanced) Institute for Apprenticeships & Technical Education
Provider: Nova Training, Redditch
Duration: 18-month fixed-term, with NHS progression opportunities
Hours: 37.5 per week, including 6 hours paid study time
English and Maths Level 2 (GCSE C/4 or equivalent)
No degree or equivalent in Business Administration or related subjects
- No prior Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship or significant admin experience

Main duties of the jobThe principal role of the Apprentice Administrator is to provide administrative and clerical support to the Specialty Medicine Directorate administrative and medical secretarial team. This role will be aligned to the Cardiology team and supported by the Operational Management Team.

Job responsibilities- To provide admin and clerical support to the secretarial and administrative team by typing internal & external correspondence.
- To provide filing, photocopying and scanning support to the team.
- To answer the telephone and deal with queries/requests and detailed messages for team members.
- To open and sort incoming/outgoing mail for the medical secretaries and admin teams.
- To provide admin and clerical support to the secretarial team by typing documents and inputting data on to appropriate clinical databases.
- To assist the admin team in arranging meetings, circulating agendas, typing minutes and booking rooms.
- Communicating with patients, GP surgeries and external providers, via telephone and email, for general queries and the booking of appointments
- Email monitoring and response to non-clinical queries.
- Any other duties that may be required, that are within the grade.
- Ability to prioritise workload and work to deadlines/targets with attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Effective communication skills; written and verbal with people at all levels.
- Ability to record accurate messages, ensuring they are passed on appropriately.
- Ability to work within standard operating procedures/guidelines.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to work on own initiative but also to know when to refer to a supervisor.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Knowledge & understanding of Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust Vision & Values.
- Basic standard of education including Maths and English to GCSE A-C, 4-9 or equivalent including Functional Skills Level 2.
- Applicants with the ability to provide evidence of predicted GCSE grades in Maths & English considered.
- Experience of working with computers including Microsoft Office systems- Word, Excel & Outlook.
- Experience of data input.
- Experience of dealing with the general public.
- Experience of working in a busy customer focused environment.
