Opportunity for a Building Services Manager to join a leading main contractor delivering two flagship projects in South Wales, including the Cardiff Arena and a hotel development.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established contractor with a strong reputation for delivering complex, high-profile projects across the commercial, leisure, hospitality and public sectors. Working alongside experienced operational and technical teams, the successful candidate will play a key role in leading the delivery of mechanical, electrical and public health services from design through to commissioning and handover.
This position would suit an experienced Building Services Manager who enjoys working on landmark developments, leading multidisciplinary teams and delivering exceptional standards of quality, safety and technical excellence.
About the roleOur client is seeking a Building Services Manager to oversee the delivery of all MEP services across the Cardiff Arena project, while also supporting the successful delivery of a nearby hotel development.
Reporting to the Project Director, the successful candidate will manage the coordination of building services throughout the construction lifecycle, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme and to the highest quality standards.
Working closely with project managers, design consultants, subcontractors and commercial teams, the Building Services Manager will provide technical leadership across both schemes while maintaining excellent relationships with clients and the wider project team.
Responsibilities for Building Services Manager- Lead the coordination and delivery of mechanical, electrical and public health services across the Cardiff Arena and hotel projects
- Manage MEP design coordination from pre-construction through to commissioning and handover
- Coordinate consultants, subcontractors and specialist suppliers to achieve programme milestones
- Review technical information, identifying buildability, coordination and value engineering opportunities
- Monitor installation quality to ensure compliance with project specifications, statutory requirements and industry standards
- Drive health, safety, environmental and quality performance across all building services activities
- Work closely with commercial and procurement teams to support package management and programme delivery
- Oversee testing, commissioning and successful handover of all MEP systems
- Identify and mitigate technical and programme risks throughout project deliveryChair MEP coordination meetings and provide regular progress updates to senior project stakeholders
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and supply chain partners
- Promote innovation, sustainability and continuous improvement across project delivery
- Proven experience as a Building Services Manager, Technical Services Manager or Senior MEP Manager delivering major construction projects
- Strong background managing mechanical, electrical and public health services on commercial, leisure, hospitality or large-scale mixed-use developments
- Demonstrable experience delivering projects from pre-construction through to practical completion
- Excellent understanding of MEP design coordination, commissioning and project handover
- Strong knowledge of current building services regulations and construction best practice
- Experience managing specialist subcontractors and multidisciplinary project teams
- Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills
- Relevant qualification in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Construction Management
- SMSTS and CSCS desirable
- Professional membership or chartered status advantageous
