Responsibilitiesof the department include managing the estates strategy, property maintenance,property management, facilities management and health, safety and environmentaloversight.

BuildingMaintenance Operative

We are nowrecruiting for a skilled and motivated Building Maintenance Operative to joinour Estates team. Working across our campuses in Cheltenham and Gloucester, youwill support the delivery of planned and reactive maintenance, statutorycompliance works and minor projects across the University's estate.

This is avaried, hands-on role requiring a broad range of building maintenance skills.You will undertake repairs and maintenance activities across a wide range ofbuilding fabric and services, including painting and decorating, fire safetyworks, drainage repairs, plant room inspections and general buildingmaintenance. You will also supervise external contractors, support plannedpreventative maintenance programmes and work closely with colleagues acrossEstates and Facilities Management teams.

Thesuccessful candidate will hold a relevant City & Guilds or NVQqualification, have experience within building, mechanical or electricalmaintenance environments and possess excellent customer service andcommunication skills. A full UK driving licence is essential, as is a flexibleapproach to work and a commitment to maintaining a safe, inclusive andwell-presented campus environment.

The roleforms part of the Estates out-of-hours emergency call out rota, providing a first response to building related incidents and helping ensure the continued operation of our estate.
