Connex Education Partnership is a dedicated and specialised provider of educational professionals in various education settings. The Role:

Our passionate SEN Home Tuition team are looking for a BSL-specialised superstar with a genuine care for developing pupils and creatively encouraging engagement. The children you will support have EHCPs and require additional provision due to hearing impairments, autism, complex learning needs, or SEMH challenges. A strong ability to communicate using British Sign Language is essential to support accessibility and engagement.

This role requires flexibility, creativity, and the ability to adapt teaching approaches to suit each learner.

This role will require Mon-Fri availability, 2 hours per day. This is a minimum, and more hours are encouraged for those interested. Various roles are available within the West Midlands area, including but not limited to: Birmingham, Lichfield, Sutton Coldfield, Harborne, Wolverhampton & more.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-to-one SEN home tuition for children with a range of SEN, including hearing impairments, autism, SEMH, and complex learning needs.
  • Use British Sign Language (BSL) to support communication and learning.
  • Plan and deliver personalised learning programmes in line with each child's EHCP.
  • Adapt teaching methods to suit individual learning styles, communication needs, interests, and emotional needs.
  • Support pupils to develop academic skills, independence, and emotional regulation.
  • Work closely with parents and carers, providing regular feedback on progress.
  • Liaise with schools, local authorities, and other professionals to support a joined-up approach.
  • Create a calm, supportive, and motivating learning environment within the home setting.
Our superstar applicant will be/have:
  • Proven experience using British Sign Language (BSL)
  • Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs, particularly hearing impairments, autism, SEMH, and complex learning needs.
  • QTS is not required but desired
  • Experience with PECS and/or Makaton is highly desirable.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children who require alternative provision.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with families and professionals.
  • A patient, adaptable, and empathetic approach.
  • Ability to travel within the local area (driving preferred but not essential).
Some Key Benefits of the Role:
  • Flexible working: Manage your own diary, ideal for balancing family life, other commitments, or the school run.
  • Financial security: Guaranteed minimum of 10 hours' pay per week per child, including 2 hours of paid preparation time.
  • Freedom to teach your way: Sessions are fully tailored to each child's EHCP, allowing for creative, child-led approaches.
  • Make a real difference: Support children at a crucial point in their education, helping them re-engage with learning in a safe, familiar environment.
  • Good rates of pay: Opportunities for additional referrals.
  • Professional collaboration: Ongoing liaison with local authorities and professionals, with regular feedback and guidance.
  • Ongoing support: You will be supported by our dedicated SEN Home Tuition Team, with a direct point of contact for advice and guidance.
