Why join the team?Engineering in the BBC develops, supports and maintains the systems and infrastructure that keeps the BBC on air. You\'ll be part of the next generation of media systems engineers helping the BBC deliver content for TV, radio, online and other digital services. You'll work on unique challenges with experienced colleagues across the UK.
You\ll learn about technologies and systems for TV, radio and digital channels, industry standards for broadcast and media systems, and IP networks. You\'ll develop skills to design, build and maintain the media production and broadcasting technologies of the future.

Why join the teamBased at a regional production centre, you will be part of a small technical team supporting the production of regional TV news, local radio and BBC local/national websites and social media. You will be trained to support all technical systems involved in these productions and work closely with technical operations and production staff.
Your key responsibilities and impactAs a Broadcast Engineering apprentice (EAS26), you will:
- Develop your understanding of how live content is acquired and presented to studios, recording areas, playout facilities and distribution platforms; learn how we manipulate audio and video and the challenges of servicing a large broadcasting organisation.
- Develop operational and engineering skills, learning how to use a variety of tools and systems and how to respond when things go wrong.
- Develop teamworking and communication skills, working as part of a varied team and talking with other BBC departments.
You\'ll study for your industry-recognised apprenticeship qualification, learning on and off the job. This includes blended learning through online and face-to-face blocks at Birmingham City University, covering:
- Audio and Vision Engineering
- Electrical and Electronic Engineering
- IP Networks
- Computer Science
- Broadcast Technology
- Database Technology
- Engineering Mathematics

This scheme is aimed at non-graduates. If you have a degree, you may consider other BBC roles or apprenticeship schemes.
Eligibility criteriaTo be eligible for an apprenticeship at the BBC, you must:
- Be 18 years old or over by the apprenticeship start in September 2026
- Have lived in the UK continuously for the last 3 years prior to the start
- Be legally eligible to work full-time in the UK for the duration of the apprenticeship
- Not currently be enrolled in another apprenticeship programme

- Have Maths and English GCSE at Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent)
- Have achieved or expect to achieve at least 112 UCAS points (300 if before 2017) by start
- Have Maths at A Level or Higher, or an appropriate engineering qualification
- Not hold qualifications in the apprenticeship subject at level 6 or higher
