Primary Duties & Responsibilities Bonding & Adhesive Application
  • Perform bonding tasks using a range of techniques, adhesives, and chemicals tailored to specific materials and assemblies.
  • Ensure correct preparation, handling, and curing of bonding agents.
  • Maintain cleanliness and precision throughout the bonding process.
Optical & Mechanical Assembly
  • Assemble small optical and mechanical components according to detailed work instructions, drawings, and specifications.
  • Handle delicate parts with care, ensuring alignment, accuracy, and quality.
  • Verify assembly integrity through visual inspection and relevant test procedures.
  • Maintain clear and timely communication with team members, supervisors, and support departments.
  • Report issues related to materials, processes, or equipment promptly.
  • Support a positive team environment and contribute to continuous improvement activities.
Education & Experience
  • Experience in assembly work, ideally involving small or delicate components.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Good attention to detail and manual dexterity.
  • Good communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in IT applications, including email communication and Microsoft Excel.
  • Must have permission to work in the UK.
Preferred Additional Skills
  • Previous experience in optical, mechanical, or electronics assembly.
  • Familiarity with assembly, production, or manufacturing environments.
  • Previous experience working in a cleanroom or controlled environment.
  • Knowledge of chemical bonding techniques or UV cure adhesives.
  • Ability to read simple technical instructions or diagrams.

  • Willingness to learn new tools, processes, and technologies.
  • Able to complete tasks independently once trained, while also working effectively as part of a team.
  • Can manage multiple simple tasks or requests in a busy production environment.

  • Maintains high standards of professionalism, reliability, and work quality.
Working Conditions

Working conditions typical of a climate controlled and professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers.

Safety Requirements

All employees are required to follow the EHS procedures and Coherent Scotland EHS standards.
