Job Description

Pay Rate: £15.46 per hour

Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Working Pattern: 9:00am - 5:00pm

Security Clearance: Basic DBS Required- Provided by Brookstreet

About the Role

We are currently recruiting for an

Admin Officer (AO) to join a busy Civil Service team based at

Aqua House, Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive administrator looking to gain valuable experience within a government department.

As an Admin Officer, you will provide essential administrative support, helping to ensure the smooth running of day-to-day operations. You will work closely with colleagues and senior staff, maintaining records, handling enquiries, and supporting the effective flow of information across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintaining accurate records and databases
  • Handling enquiries from the public and internal stakeholders via telephone, email, and in person
  • Providing administrative support to senior staff and wider teams
  • Processing and managing documentation in line with departmental procedures
  • Supporting effective communication and information sharing across the organisation
  • Ensuring records are stored and maintained accurately and confidentially
  • Assisting with general office administration and business support activities
Skills & Experience

We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate:

  • Previous administrative or office-based experience
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work accurately with attention to detail
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to manage workload effectively and meet deadlines
  • A professional and customer-focused approach
Training
  • Full on-the-job training will be provided
  • No holiday restrictions during the training period
  • No travel required for training
Additional Information
  • Criminal convictions will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
  • Basic DBS clearance is required prior to appointment.
  • The role may be extended following the initial assignment period, subject to business requirements.
