Biomedical Scientist - Spire Nottingham/Tollerton

Full Time Permanent position. Join our team at Spire Healthcare's laboratory in Tollerton, Nottingham.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, analyse, assess and report pathology investigations.
  • Analyse, interpret and report information and knowledge related to ideas and concepts.
  • Develop and evaluate the movement of laboratory specimens, blood and tissues.
  • Assist with research and development.
  • Plan, monitor and quality assure the application of technology for measuring and monitoring pathology investigations.
  • Provide and receive complex, sensitive or contentious information.
  • Develop own knowledge and skills and that of others.
  • Promote best practice in health and safety and security.
  • Assist in maintaining and developing services.
  • Contribute to quality improvement.
  • Support and enable equality, diversity and rights.
  • Acknowledge the risk of Healthcare Associated Infections (HCAI) and understand own responsibility for prevention and control.
  • Assist in meeting financial and budgetary targets.
Qualifications
  • Degree qualified or HNC in Medical Laboratory Sciences or equivalent, enabling eligibility for Associate Membership of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences.
  • Biomedical Scientist registered with the Health & Care Professions Council.
Experience
  • Experience within a performance driven culture while maintaining safe standards.
  • Experience in a scientific laboratory.
  • Experience in the independent sector.
  • Strategically commercial and familiar with service developments.
  • Experience working in partnership with consultants and helping to create innovative solutions for new pathology services.
  • Uses evidence based practice and shares such practices with colleagues.
  • Possesses mandatory training in infection control, health and safety, and medical device competencies.
  • Numeracy skills.
  • Aversion to current healthcare issues.
  • Flexible thinking about work patterns.
  • Proficient with MS Office and other relevant software packages.
  • Teaching and mentoring skills.
  • Auditing skills across clinical standards and departments.
  • Root cause analysis experience.
  • Professional assessment skills.
  • Basic business development skills, including helping to create business cases.
