Job Description
Job Title: Junior BI Developer
Location: West Midlands (Hybrid)
Salary: Up to £40,000
Sector: Retail We're supporting a fast-growing retail business based in the West Midlands in their search for a Junior BI Developer. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their BI or analytics career who's looking to develop their skills in a commercial, fast-paced environment. You'll work closely with the wider data team to help build dashboards, automate reporting, and ensure stakeholders have access to accurate, actionable insights. You'll also gain exposure to business performance metrics and play a hands-on role in improving how data is delivered across the organisation. This role offers a strong development path, with the chance to grow your technical skills and contribute to high-impact analytics work from day one. Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the development and maintenance of BI dashboards and reports using tools such as Power BI or Tableau
  • Assist in gathering data requirements from teams across the business, including trading, marketing, and finance
  • Help ensure the accuracy and consistency of data from various sources
  • Write SQL queries to extract and manipulate data for analysis and reporting
  • Monitor scheduled reports and troubleshoot data or refresh issues
  • Work with the data team to improve data access, automation, and reporting processes
  • Support ad-hoc data requests and contribute to insight generation
Key Requirements:
  • 1-2 years of experience in a data, BI, or reporting role, or a recent graduate with a relevant degree and some hands-on experience
  • Basic SQL knowledge and a willingness to learn more advanced queries
  • Familiarity with data visualisation tools like Power BI, Tableau, or similar
  • Strong attention to detail and an analytical mindset
  • Comfortable working with numbers and large datasets
  • Eagerness to learn, take ownership of tasks, and develop technical skills
  • Exposure to Excel, databases, or data pipelines is beneficial but not essential
