Behaviour Mentor - Alternative Provision - South Birmingham - ASAP StartThis excellent alternative provision in South Birmingham is seeking a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Mentor to join their team to work with students who have been excluded from mainstream education. This is a rewarding opportunity to support students who require additional guidance to engage positively with education and develop the skills needed for success. Many of the students have SEMH needs.As a Behaviour Mentor, you will provide structured 1-2-1 and small group support, helping students manage their behaviour, regulate emotions and build confidence. You will also support enrichment lessons, encourage participation and promote positive experiences beyond the core curriculum. You will be joining a dynamic team of behaviour mentors and teaches who are committed to ensuring that every child receives an outstanding education. Strong communication and classroom management skills are essential. Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, RSW or youth worker is desirable.The Role:
- Providing 1-2-1 mentoring support for students with behavioural needs
- Delivering small group interventions focused on behaviour and engagement
- Supporting students to develop emotional regulation and social skills
- Assisting in enrichment lessons and wider school activities
- Promoting positive behaviour strategies and consistent routines
- Working closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams
- Experience working with young people with behavioural or SEMH needs
- Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
- The ability to build positive, professional relationships with students
- A calm, patient and resilient approach
- Good communication and teamwork skills
