Location: Tallaght University Hospital, Dublin
The Cardiac Physiologist will provide a high quality cardiac investigation service to patients with known or suspected cardiac disease under the supervision of the Chief II Cardiac Physiologist.
Responsibilities- Perform non invasive cardiac diagnostic tests including Resting ECG, Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring, Holter Monitoring and ECG Event Monitoring, Exercise Stress Testing, Pacemaker follow up and programming, and Echocardiography (TTE, TOE and DSE).
- Conduct measurement aspects of invasive cardiac diagnostic procedures in the cardiac catheterisation laboratory, including pressure measurements, ECG monitoring, cardiac output and oxygen saturation determination.
- Provide technical support for therapeutic procedures such as electrophysiology studies, pacemaker implantation, transluminal coronary angioplasty, balloon pump, FFR and IVUS.
- First line maintenance, electrical safety checking and calibration of equipment.
- Teach Cardiac Physiologists or students from other disciplines as delegated.
- Support nursing, medical and technical staff in patient care involving technology.
- Contribute to development of training programmes for staff and external groups.
- Act for other staff in their absence.
- Use Cardiovascular Information System (CVIS) and participate in cost control audits.
- Maintain care and cleanliness of all equipment and accessories.
- Attend departmental meetings and staff training programmes.
- Update knowledge and training as procedures evolve.
- Maintain a personal record of professional development and research activity.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Chief II Cardiac Physiologist or deputy.
- Commitment to continuous professional development through internal training programmes.
- Associate of the Society for Cardiological Science and Technology (ASCS&T) or equivalent.
- Certificate (or equivalent) in Medical Physics and Physiological Measurement from Dublin Institute of Technology, Kevin Street or similar institution.
- Member of the Society of Cardiological Science and Technology (MSCS&T) or equivalent.
- After 2005 BSc in Clinical Measurement (or equivalent); 4th year students considered subject to 2019 qualification. Ratification by Institute of Clinical Measurement Science required.
- At least two years relevant experience in a Cardiac department or appropriate clinical placement during BSc in Clinical Measurement Science.
- Ability to perform 12 Lead Resting ECG.
- Perform Exercise Stress Testing.
- Perform Ambulatory Monitoring.
- Associate of the Society for Cardiological Science and Technology.
- Experience in echocardiography.
- Accreditation with British Society of Echocardiography (BSE) or European Society of Echocardiography (ESE) for adults.
- Accreditation with Heart Rhythm UK, IBHRE or European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA).
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certificate.
- Remuneration in accordance with the Department of Health Consolidated Salary Scales, grade code 3867. (€44,776 - €66,048 incl. LSI).
- Full permanent appointment and pensionable.
- Annual leave entitlement: 28 working days per year (April 1 - March 31).
Normal working hours: 35 hours over 5 days; contracted hours may vary 8 am - 8 pm over 7 days to meet extended day services.
