Job Description
Flexible Nursery Practitioner / Bank Worker

We are recruiting an enthusiastic and dependable Nursery Practitioner to join our Hungry Caterpillar Bank Team. This role offers flexibility to suit your busy lifestyle, with zero hour shifts available across eight nurseries in Buckinghamshire and West London.

Position: Flexible Nursery Practitioner / Bank Worker

Hours: 8am 1pm / 1pm 6pm / 8am 6pm, Monday to Friday (flexible to your availability)

Hourly Rate for Unqualified: £11.00 - £13.00 (incl. holiday pay)

Hourly Rate for Level 2 Qualified: £13.50 (incl. holiday pay)

Hourly Rate for Level 3 Qualified: £14.50 (incl. holiday pay)

Location: High Wycombe, HP11 1TJ (Buckinghamshire)

What We Are Looking For

We'd like an enthusiastic, reliable team player who is passionate about working with children and can confidently step into different nursery settings as needed. Prior experience in a nursery or early years setting is preferred but not essential. Relevant qualifications in Childcare or Early Years Education are advantageous.

Responsibilities
  • Provide flexible support to the nursery team, stepping in where needed to maintain a safe and welcoming environment.
  • Assist with day to day activities, including play, creative tasks, and learning experiences that support children's development.
  • Help with routines such as mealtimes, nappy changing, and transitions, ensuring children feel calm and secure.
  • Work alongside permanent staff to maintain an inclusive and positive atmosphere.
  • Follow all safeguarding, health & safety, and nursery policies to keep children safe and well cared.
  • Maintain a helpful, team focused attitude and be ready to adapt to the needs of the setting on any given day.
  • Take opportunities to learn and develop your skills, with support from our experienced team.
Qualifications and Training

All colleagues are required to complete safeguarding training and regular refresher training. Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening, enhanced DBS clearance, identity checks, qualification checks, employment checks, and must provide two satisfactory references. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and requires a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
