Porters are part of the Facilities department providing 24 hour cover 7 days a week for all wards and departments on the Grantham Hospital Site.
This is a varied and interesting post involving the movement of materials and patients around all departments on the site.
Main duties of the job- Have good communication skills
- Have a flexible and adaptable approach to prioritise workload
- Be friendly and approachable
- Be reliable with good time management
- Have the ability to work in a physical environment
- Have the ability to work individually and as part of a team
- Have awareness of Infection Prevention and Control practices within a healthcare environment
- Be passionate about delivering a high quality service
- Previous portering experience is desirable though full training will be given. Uniform and PPE will be provided.

United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust has been granted teaching hospital status, after demonstrating evidence to significant teaching commitment. From now on it will be known as United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
Pilgrim Hospital is situated in beautiful countryside and serves the communities in the South Lincolnshire area. It provides all major specialties and a 24-hour major accident and emergency service.
Grantham and District Hospital serves the communities of Grantham and the local area. It provides ambulatory paediatric and accident and emergency services.
Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) and United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust (ULHT) have come together in a Group arrangement, with the goal of improving the care provided to patients across the county.
This will not constitute a formal merger of the two organisations, but will bring the Trusts together under a single Board and Executive Leadership Team, with the goal of improving the care that is provided to patients both in the community and in hospitals across Lincolnshire. Both Trusts will retain their separate statutory names and legal obligations.
The Group will be known as Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals NHS Group (LCHG).

Person Specification Qualifications- Able to demonstrate literacy and numeracy skills sufficient to complete paperwork relating to delivery and collection of blood units, securing of patients' property, etc., and comprehension skills sufficient to be able to read and understand written instructions.
- Full Driving Licence
- Previous driving experience.
- Able to demonstrate an understanding of moving and handling techniques.
- Health and Safety qualifications/training.
- NVQ Level 2, or above, in Customer Care.
- Able to demonstrate previous experience in a customer based organisation.
- Previous NHS experience.
- Previous portering experience in a busy, pressurised environment.
- Able to demonstrate an ability to work to deadlines.
- Able to demonstrate the ability to use initiative to resolve problems and to prioritise workload.
- Able to demonstrate the ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Able to demonstrate a high standard of interpersonal skills.
- Able to demonstrated a positive approach to team-working.
- Able to demonstrate ability to work as part of an inter-disciplinary team.
- Previous experience of driving electric vehicles.
- Able to demonstrate a commitment to Customer Care.
- Able to demonstrate a flexible approach to changes in workload/duties/priorities.
- Able to demonstrate the ability to react quickly and sensitively to a wide range of differing needs.
- Able to demonstrate a willingness to undertake basic mortuary duties (with training).
- Previous Customer Care training.
- Previous mortuary experience.
- Previous Security experience.
- Basic keyboard skills.
