Bank Endoscopy Decontamination Technician

The post holderwill undertake decontamination and sterilisation duties according to equipmentrequirements and assist the supervisors and manager in providing a high-qualityaccredited (EN ISO 13485:2016 & JAG) service, this will be inclusive oflogistical responsibilities and store management processes of reusable medicaldevices utilised within clinical care.
The post holderwill be required to receive, disassemble, clean, disinfect, sterilise and storeendoscopes within controlled environments, ensuring comprehensive records ofall tasks are maintained for tracking traceability purposes.
This willnecessitate the operation of specific computer and database applications.Because some tasks expected within this role are governed by regulation (UKMDR) the employee must work in accordance to national guidance and publishedresearch; the departments Standard Operating procedures and quality managementsystems to ensure an effective and compliant service is delivered.
Main duties of the jobInform senior staff ifasked or expected to work unsupervised without the relevant training or levelof competence.
Attend training coursesand partake in any other training strategies (mandatory and non-mandatory) asrequired to maintain knowledge and skills as required, this may involveovernight stay.
Assist with thesupervision and teaching in decontamination practices to new and lessexperienced technicians.
Support departmentalneeds to ensure monitoring, maintenance & servicing requirements of theendoscopes are undertaken in a way that offers little service disruption andreport accordingly to senior staff.
Ensure routine testsare undertaken and recorded in accordance with the Planned PreventativeMaintenance Schedules, Quality Standards and Guidance.
Undertake regularaudits of decontamination and sterilisation processes and action anydiscrepancies to departmental guidelines.
To adhere to therecommendations for the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) andrisk assessments appropriate to the clinical area.
Inspect equipmentwithin the decontamination cycle to ensure processes are effective.
Recognise devices byname and ensure endoscopes are repacked correctly with correct instrumentsancillary items, responsible for checking loan devices and ensuring the correctitems delivered prior to clinical use.
Will come into contact with remnants of blood, bodytissue or offensive by-products as part of the cleaning cycles.

Job responsibilitiesTo work inaccordance with Departmental & National Policy, Standard OperatingProcedures and Quality Management Systems.
Able todemonstrate ability, and apply knowledge and competence to all tasks required inthe process of the sterilisation and decontamination of the endoscopeequipment.
Participate fullyas a team member, sharing knowledge and information and supporting colleagues,to promote a cohesive team and the achievement of team objectives.
Report untowardincidents, non-conformities and any other relevant information to a seniormember of staff using the TSS Incident Reporting System.
Takeresponsibility for logging and escalating failures of decontamination equipmentto relevant stake holders and management.
Show fullunderstanding of decontamination equipment functionality and associatedvalidation, daily weekly monthly and annual, testing requirements. Conductroutine tests in accordance with Quality standards and guidance.
Take directionfrom seniors and coordinate tasks appropriately, to ensure the endoscopes arereadily available in accordance with patient scheduling.
Person Specification Skills- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience of the decontamination of endoscopes
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Analytical approach to problem solving
- Education to GCSE or equivalent, including Maths and English
- Willingness to attend training throughout the duration of being in post
- NVQ3, Technical Certificate Decontamination, or equivalent level of knowledge and experience through decontamination training
- Knowledge and experience in the decontamination of endoscopes
- Can work as part of a team and independently, using initiative to resolve technical problems
- Ability to work to Standard Operating Procedures
- Time management and organizational skills
- Experience of working within a fast-paced environment and under pressure
- Experience to train staff in decontamination systems

Depending on experience£15 per hour Monday-Saturday and £20 per hour Sunday
