Job Description

Acorns Children's Hospice Trust is seeking a Casual Bank Cook to assist the Lead Cook in ensuring that all catering requirements for our Birmingham Hospice are met in line with the highest food, safety and hygiene standards. Applicants will work occasional shifts to cover absence.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook a variety of meals, including special diets (soft, pureed, allergen free, blended)
  • Follow the menu plan and work with the care team to ensure that the meals delivered meet the children's preferences and dietary needs, including fortification of foods
  • Maintain high standards of food hygiene practices to avoid cross contamination
  • Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering supplies, managing wastage to save money
  • Undertake catering related cleaning duties
  • Serve main meals, including preparation of dining areas
About you
  • Previous experience of catering duties, including preparation, cooking and serving of food
  • Knowledge of nutrition and dietary needs
  • Knowledge of food hygiene regulations
  • Experience working in an environment with children and young people
Qualifications
  • Food hygiene level 2
  • BTEC, Diploma or equivalent professional qualification in hotel and catering
What we offer
  • £13.45 per hour
  • Additional enhancements for weekends and bank holidays
  • Based in Acorns Birmingham Hospice (B29 6HZ)
  • Eligible to work in the UK; DBS check; references; immunisation evidence or willingness to receive vaccinations
