BANK - Peripatetic Trainer-Sonographer Ultrasound

Flexible hours / sessions available, 7 days a week between the hours of 8:30 am -8pm (Royal Stoke / County Stafford/ Haywood Community Hospital)

We are looking to recruit highly motivated, dynamic and professional individuals to join our well established team of bank of Advanced Practitioner Sonographers.

You should hold a case accredited PgC , PgD or MSc in non obstetric ultrasound and a broad range of experience of working independently within the NHS.

Skill mix offered:

  • General Medical: upper Abdominal / KUB
  • Small parts: Testes / Head and neck
  • Gynae
  • Vascular
  • Lower limb vein scanning for DVT / Carotid scanning

The successful candidate must have excellent communication and organisational skills, be enthusiastic and committed to delivering an efficient and quality service

Main duties of the job

The Ultrasound department provides both Obstetric and General Medical scanning services, which are managed and supported operationally from the Royal Stoke. However, services are provided from both sites and multiple smaller community units.

Maternity services currently deliver approximately 7000 babies a year, for which we provide the routine antenatal screening in line with national screening standards. In addition to this the sonographers support the early pregnancy unit, fetal assessment unit and specialist antenatal and gynaecological clinics.

General Ultrasound scanning provides out-patient services and supports our busy acute in patient departments, plus a variety of sub speciality services including, vascular, paediatric and MSK.

We are a modern department with a variety of equipment. We are a fast paced, dynamic and vibrant department with an interesting and challenging case load. We provide a 7 day service including bank holidays on a rotational basis.

Job responsibilities

An autonomous practitioner who can independently scan and report a range of diagnostic ultrasound scans in line with National , Trust and department protocols.

This role is a training role and therefore skills for this will be required.
