Band 7 Urology Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) - Prostate Diagnostics

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our newly designed team to deliver Nurse-led prostate diagnostics. You will become part of team who drive, lead, and showcase advanced autonomous nursing practice delivering suspected prostate cancer diagnostics in a high-volume centre.

We are looking for one clinical nurse specialist that uses autonomous enhanced practice in the management of patients referred with suspected prostate cancer.

Main duties of the job

The role will require delivery of a comprehensive straight to test (STT) diagnostic pathway managing patients on this pathway to the point of diagnosis and the onward referral/liaison with other services (e.g. Clinical/Medical Oncology). Clinical triage of referrals, investigation interpretation and managing benign diagnosis with a patient-centred approach are pivotal aspects to the role.

The post holder will act as an innovator, motivator, and role model to support and influence clinical pathway redesign within prostate cancer services including quality improvement, implementation of national initiatives, service reconfiguration and new digitally enabled models of care.

There is an expectation that the post holder will be involved in service development, research, teaching, and education commitments, and will have a willingness to develop oneself and others.

The post holder will work closely to deliver a new Nurse-led diagnostic service with the Consultant Nurse, Advanced Nurse Practitioner Team, Operational, patients and wider MDT team.

  • Advanced physical assessment skills

Experience
  • Evidence of staff management
  • Previous experience of research and audit
  • Proven evidence of improving patient experience
