Job Title: Radiographer Specialist - 86930

Grade: Band 6

Ward: Radiotherapy Department

Shift Patterns: 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday 08:30-17:00

This post is based within the Radiotherapy department of the Berkshire Cancer Centre. The successful candidate will be required to work within the treatment section of the department across both Reading (Hub) and Bracknell (satellite) sites.

Work as part of the treatment team, providing clinical leadership and assisting the Band 7 Radiographers in delivering Radiotherapy treatment for a variety of tumour sites across the Reading and Bracknell department locations.

Main duties of the job
  • Manage a workload of patients undergoing radiotherapy ensuring the safe and competent use of radiation and the highest standard of patient care, ensuring all efficiency targets are met. To ensure the RTSM is made aware of any patients who breach activity targets
  • Provide advice regarding management of a range of complex radiotherapy related situations.
  • Be competent in Radiotherapy image verification to evaluate field placement and take any necessary action including re-planning if appropriate.
  • Work closely with Band 7 treatment/planning staff, the medical physics team and the wider MDT to ensure that care, communication and service delivery are seamless.
  • Ensure that services delivered by the Radiotherapy department meet the highest professional and technical standards, as per CHKS guidelines and Trust policies and procedures.

Experience
  • Previous experience in the use of Elekta treatment Linacs and Mosaiq treatment delivery system.
Qualifications
  • Hold a BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic or Therapeutic Radiography (or an equivalent qualification approved by the HCPC).
  • You must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Diagnostic or Therapeutic Radiographer.
