We are looking for a Band 6 Clinical Practitioner to join the North Somerset CAMHS Team, working across Core CAMHS and the Eating Disorders pathway.
The team is consistently rated by staff as very supportive, offering strong development opportunities and maintaining long-standing links with Exeter University.
You will be working across North Somerset, with bases at The Barn, Clevedon, and in Weston-super-Mare. This post involves travel to meet the needs of the service; therefore, a driving licence and access to a car are essential.
You will be supporting children and young people with a range of mental health and eating difficulties, as well as associated comorbidities. Our aim is to work alongside young people, their families, and carers to promote recovery.
North Somerset CAMHS is a busy, thriving service that is passionate about delivering highly effective and accessible support to young people and families across the area.
We are a well-established multidisciplinary team offering evidence-based interventions. The team is diverse, committed to staff development and wellbeing, and provides excellent supervision and CPD opportunities. We offer established specialist clinics, including family therapy and specialist eating disorder clinics, alongside opportunities for staff to work autonomously with their own caseload. Regular reflective practice groups and process groups are in place to support clinical work.
Main duties of the jobYour role will involve providing triage, assessment, and treatment to support young people and their families/carers who present with a range of mental health and eating disorders, as well as associated comorbidities.
The team offers a variety of treatment approaches, including group-based interventions, family therapy, and individual therapeutic work.
You will work collaboratively within Core CAMHS, alongside the Eating Disorder Home Treatment Team and the medical team at The Seashore Centre.

Job responsibilitiesThe post holder will be a member of the Eating Disorder Team and the Core CAMHS Team, and will be able to manage complexity and risk as part of a multidisciplinary team.
The post holder will manage a caseload of identified young people, offering appointments in a timely manner and working towards discharge where appropriate.
The post holder will provide comprehensive clinical risk assessment and management for children and young people, including those presenting with selfinjurious behaviour.
The post holder will implement risk management and safety plans collaboratively. They will develop care plans with young people and their families based on a thorough assessment of needs.
The post holder will be part of the duty system and will undertake assessments, including Eating Disorder assessments, on behalf of the multidisciplinary team. This will involve incorporating different models of understanding the young persons difficulties and reflecting the teams multimodal approach, including Eating Disorder interventions. Routine outcome measures will be used throughout the young persons care pathway.
The post holder will participate in the provision of psychoeducation and therapy to identified patients, as well as shortterm therapeutic interventions (individual, family, and group) for young people presenting with subthreshold disorders. They will also contribute to FamilyBased Treatment for Eating Disorders and other evidencebased interventions.
The post holder will contribute to the clinical governance agenda of the service, including teaching, training, audit, professional development, and service development.

NOTE: This post is open to newly qualified social workers. In line with AWP Trust policy, all newly qualified social workers (NQSWs) will be recruited initially at Band 5 level, regardless of the advertised role banding. All NQSWs are expected to successfully complete their ASYE within 2 years of employment, unless there are exceptional circumstances, in which case it may be extended for a further 2 years.
If you have been appointed to an advertised Band 6 role, this will be an automatic progression following confirmation of your successful ASYE completion. If you have been appointed to a Band 5 post, you will then be eligible to apply for a subsequent Band 6 vacancy upon successful ASYE completion.
Person Specification- RMN qualification or other relevant qualification (e.g., social work, psychology, psychotherapy, or IAPT Postgraduate Diploma in CBT)
- Experience of working with young people with mental health difficulties
- Experience in using assessment skills, particularly in determining the nature and severity of mental illness/mental health issues in children and young people
- Experience of working in CAMHS or an equivalent mental health setting with young people
