Job Description: Band 6 Mental Health Practitioner - CAMHS

Role Overview: Join our dynamic and compassionate team as a Band 6 Mental Health Practitioner specialising in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) within the NHS. This role is pivotal in providing high-quality mental health care to young individuals in London. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver effective, evidence-based interventions and support to children and adolescents experiencing mental health challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive child-specific mental health assessments to inform diagnosis and treatment plans.

  • Provide therapeutic interventions tailored to the needs of young people, utilising a range of evidence-based approaches.

  • Engage in youth crisis de-escalation, ensuring the safety and well-being of clients in distress.

  • Collaborate with families, schools, and other agencies to create a supportive network for young people.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in line with NHS guidelines.

  • Participate in regular supervision and team meetings to enhance practice and professional development.

  • Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives within CAMHS.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Relevant professional qualification in Mental Health Nursing, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or Psychology.

  • Registration with the appropriate professional body (NMC, HCPC, etc.).

  • Experience working within mental health services, with a focus on CAMHS.

  • Completion of NHS mandatory training relevant to the role.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience in conducting child-specific assessments and developing individualised care plans.

  • Proven ability in youth crisis de-escalation techniques.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with young people and their families.
