Are you a passionate and experienced Registered Children's nurse or General nurse with experience of working within a Paediatric acute care or emergency setting?
We are looking for nurse/s who are enthusiastic, compassionate, confident and clinically skilled who are passionate about providing high quality emergency care to children, young people and their families within a fast-paced department.
As a band 6 you will play a key role in supporting the co-ordination of care across the department ensuring that every child receives safe, effective and family centred care treatment.
You will act as clinical lead and a role model, supporting junior staff and students ensuring high standards of practice, and contributing to ongoing service development.

Main duties of the job- To be responsible for the assessment of care needs the development, implementation and evaluation of programme of care without direct supervision.
- To be responsible for ensuring patient care and safety are evaluated whilst on duty.
- To supervise the work of other team members, medical and nursing.
- To be fully aware of local policies and procedures and those for the Trust
- To be aware of own training needs and developmental needs within the clinical environment.
- To deliver patient care using the philosophy of individualised patient care.
- To participate in Health Education.
- To report on care given, to other members of staff, communicating changes as they occur.
- To liaise with other health care professionals.
- To be aware of and respect the patient's rights for confidentiality.
- To be conversant with the 'Code of Professional Conduct' in duties.
- To be professionally accountable for all actions during working shift.
- To supervise student/learner nurses and healthcare assistant nurses in the giving of patient care.
- To be aware of Area Child Protection Committee policies and procedures and take appropriate action to Safeguarding children.
- All employees must comply with the Trust Infection Control Policy. All employees must attend infection control training as required within their department or as directed by their line manager
- To develop managerial skills for further CPD

Person Specification Qualifications- Registered Paediatric Nurse or general registered nurse on the NMC with paediatric experience.
- Health care management / leadership qualification
- Minimum four years post registration experience within a paediatric acute care or emergency setting.
- Substantial post registration experience working in a complex health care setting / Acute NHS care setting supervising / mentoring junior staff
- Evidence of professional /clinical knowledge in area supplemented by specialist clinical and or managerial training and CPD
- Can demonstrate understanding / experience / willingness to be a practice based supervisor / assessor as detailed in the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) standards for student supervision and assessment
- Professional portfolio which demonstrates continuing professional development, evidence of ability to maintain professional registration
- Relevant and recent clinical experience within the speciality /acute care setting, including the supervision /education of junior staff
- Experience of mentoring undergraduate students
- Evidence of ability to lead /coordinate a shift /area of department
- Experience in learning from incidents /complaints and supporting changes in practice.
- Demonstrable ability, experience, passion in the following: Leadership; Team Building; Managing resources; Time management; Clinical governance; Audit and research; Workforce planning / management; NHS policy and political awareness; Experience in a senior band 5 role or band 6 role.
- Demonstrates specialist expertise underpinned by theory acquired through CPD

- Competence in expanded clinical practice associated with the role
