About this jobObjective:To carry out clinical practice within designated clinical areas, ensuring that high-quality, evidence-based nursing assessment, care planning, interventions, and evaluations for patients are provided.
This will include: Undertaking a comprehensive, patient-focused nursing assessment and preparing care plans in consultation with the service user to provide the best nursing care.
Carrying out clinical audits to evaluate and improve clinical services in partnership with service users.
Administering medication within relevant Trust and legislative guidance (e.g., NMC Standards for Medicines Management 2010, the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, MHA 1983) and ensuring others apply these standards to support safe practice.
Demonstrating a working knowledge of the key elements of relevant Mental Health legislation.
Being familiar with the NMC's The Code: Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics for Nurses and Midwives, recognising own competencies and addressing any limitations to ensure safe practice.
Implementing and encouraging others to implement research-based practice.
Supervising junior and unqualified staff.
Implementing care and rehabilitation programmes.
Evaluating the effectiveness of care provided in partnership with service users.
Undertaking risk assessments and developing risk management strategies for individual service users (ICPA/SAP) who present with mental health problems.
