We're looking for a motivated and caring Audiologist to join our specialist Audiology Team at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. This 18-month fixed term, full time post offers the opportunity to provide high quality care to patients with complex hearing needs, whilst also developing your clinical skills within a leading teaching hospital.
As a Band 5 Audiologist, you will work both autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team to assess, diagnose and manage patients with complex hearing difficulties. Your work will include diagnostics, rehabilitation and ongoing support for new and existing patients. You may also have opportunities to contribute towards specialist areas, such as Tinnitus, Vestibular and Hearing Implant clinics.
We welcome applications from compassionate, motivated professionals who hold a BSc/PTP in Audiology (or equivalent) and are registered with RCCP or HCPC. You'll be encouraged to take part in service development and quality assurance and will be supported in your continuing development.

Main duties of the jobThe post holder will work autonomously to assess, manage and support patients presenting with hearing difficulties. Responsibilities include the assessment and rehabilitation of patients with complex hearing needs, fitting hearing aids where appropriate and supporting patients in shared decision making about their hearing care. The role also involves providing follow up care for existing patients, including hearing aid and implantable device repairs.
The post holder will contribute to service development, quality assurance, continuous improvement and innovation within the department. They must adhere to Trust policies, procedures and professional codes of conduct, and will be supported in completing any work based training relevant to the role.
Audiology offers a range of specialist clinics, and there will be opportunities to work alongside colleagues in Tinnitus, Vestibular and Hearing Implant services.

Person Specification Qualifications- BSc/PTP in Audiology (or equivalent)
- Registered with RCCP/HCPC/AHCS/HAD
- Membership of professional body (BAA or BSA)
- Training period must include a significant period of supervised clinical audiology training
- Experience of working with patients with hearing difficulties
- Knowledge of methods used to evaluate hearing, balance and tinnitus
- Experience of hearing aid fittings and knowledge of current technology and application, including verification techniques
- Understanding of the issues surrounding hearing impairment and impact on quality of life
- Knowledge of hearing pathologies and otoscopic examination and interpretation
- Knowledge of BSA and BAA Guidelines
- Knowledge of NICE Guidelines for Hearing Aid Assessment and Management
- Awareness of IQIPS
- Ability to undertake routine evaluation and rehabilitation without supervision, and create treatment plans based on information received
- Ability to programme and evaluate hearing aid fittings
- Ability to counsel patients regarding a range of treatment options, taking into account the needs of the patient
- Good organisational skills
- Ability to explain patients hearing pathologies in a sensitive and clear way
- Good communication skills - verbal and written
- Good IT skills and knowledge of common computing packages for word processing, spreadsheets, presentation packages and databases
- Effective team worker, working in collaboration with others
- Good time management
- Able to work alone as well as in a team
- Ability to be mobile, if required, operating across UHB sites
- Knowledge of Auditbase
