AWS DevOps Engineer

*2-3 DAYS ONSITE IN GLASGOW, INSIDE IR35*

We are seeking a highly skilled AWS DevOps Engineer with deep hands on experience in CloudFormation, AWS services, and automation. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in designing, implementing, and optimizing cloud-native infrastructure using AWS-native tools, along with solid knowledge of Python and operational excellence in modern CI/CD environments.

Key Responsibilities
* Design, develop, and maintain AWS CloudFormation templates for scalable, secure, and automated infrastructure deployments.
* Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines using AWS-native tools (CodePipeline, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy) and other industry-standard systems.
* Develop automation scripts using Python and integrate workflows with Lambda, Step Functions, Glue, and related AWS services.
* Manage and configure core AWS services such as ECS, EC2, DynamoDB, Athena, IAM, KMS, and ensure best practices across environments.
* Implement secure authentication and authorization patterns, including OAuth, IAM roles & policies, and service-to-service identity management.
* Ensure strong governance of infrastructure security, encryption, and access control.
* Troubleshoot infrastructure, network, and deployment issues in cloud environments.
* Work closely with development, security, and architecture teams to define and implement DevOps and cloud standards.
* Drive automation, observability, and reliability improvements across the cloud platform.

Required Skills & Experience
* 5+ years of hands on experience as a DevOps Engineer with a primary focus on AWS.
* Expert-level proficiency in AWS CloudFormation (mandatory).
* Strong experience with AWS compute and data services:
o Lambda, Glue, Step Functions
o ECS, EC2
o DynamoDB, Athena
* Solid expertise in Python Scripting and automation.
* Strong knowledge of IAM, KMS, and AWS security standards.
* Good understanding of authentication and authorization frameworks (OAuth2, JWT, API security).
* Experience with CI/CD tools and automated deployment practices.
* Strong understanding of networking, container orchestration, and cloud architecture principles.
