Job Description

We are seeking a driven and innovative Automation Process Engineer to join a fast-growing industrial automation company delivering advanced packaging and assembly solutions to the food and beverage industry. This role plays a critical part in expanding automation capabilities, leading equipment integration, and ensuring seamless operation of high-performance machinery. As part of a collaborative national engineering team, the engineer will support deployments and on-site operations across various facilities, including advanced mobile manufacturing units. The position involves solving complex automation challenges and contributing directly to scalable, cutting-edge packaging technologies.

Position Responsibilities Continuous Improvement & Development
  • Lead initiatives to improve factory equipment performance and enhance process reliability.
  • Develop and implement automation solutions to optimize operations.
Engineering Handoff
  • Ensure successful startup and integration of new machines into production environments.
  • Troubleshoot system functionality and verify equipment performance in alignment with operational requirements.
Leadership
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Automation Technicians.
  • Promote knowledge sharing and process ownership.
Collaboration
  • Contribute to a national engineering group focused on standardization and best practices.
  • Share technical insights and align local projects with broader engineering goals.
Problem Solving
  • Identify root causes of process inefficiencies and resolve production challenges.
  • Deliver sustainable solutions that improve manufacturing flow.
Data Analysis
  • Analyze equipment data and cycle times using metrics and KPIs.
  • Implement data-driven changes that enhance productivity and reliability.
Cross-functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with operations, maintenance, and quality teams.
  • Coordinate and execute engineering tasks to support financial and operational targets.
Safety
  • Ensure all new processes and equipment comply with industrial safety regulations and standards.
  • Actively promote a safe working environment.
Sojo Flight Deployment
  • Lead mobile manufacturing line deployment and retraction.
  • Provide real-time troubleshooting and support during site transitions.
  • Travel up to 50% may be required to support nationwide deployments.
Additional Duties
  • Perform other engineering responsibilities as directed by management.
Prerequisites
  • 2-10 years' experience in a high-speed engineering or operational environment
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and SolidWorks (or equivalent CAD tools)
  • Familiar with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement frameworks
  • Experience programming and troubleshooting FANUC robots (or equivalent)
  • Proficient in Allen Bradley PLCs (or comparable control systems)
  • Strong cross-functional communication skills, including for non-technical stakeholders
  • Skilled in automation systems, robotics, and electrical/mechanical schematics
  • Highly self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Solid written and verbal communication abilities
  • Experience with automated systems such as conveyors, packaging machinery, robots, and vision systems
  • Working knowledge of industrial safety practices
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Willing to travel up to 50%
Certifications (Preferred, but Not Required)
  • Lean or Six Sigma certification
  • Familiarity with CI/CD practices
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel, Power BI, or Tableau
