Our client, a highly regarded educational institution in the heart of Wormholt and White City, Greater London, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Part-time Autism Teaching Assistant to join their dynamic team. As a Part-time Autism Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our clients' mission to create an inclusive and nurturing learning environment for all students. Your primary responsibilities will involve working closely with children diagnosed with ASD, assisting them in their educational and social-emotional development.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with ASD, helping them to engage in classroom activities, complete assignments, and develop essential life skills.
- Collaborate with teachers and other educational professionals to develop and implement individualised learning plans, ensuring that each student's unique needs are addressed.
- Facilitate social-emotional learning activities, such as role-playing, social skills training, and behaviour management techniques, to help students with ASD develop effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Monitor and record students' progress, behaviour, and any changes in their needs, providing regular feedback to the teaching team and parents/carers.
- Assist in the preparation of learning materials, adapting resources to suit the specific needs of students with ASD.
- Participate in professional development opportunities, such as training sessions and workshops, to continuously expand your knowledge and skills in supporting students with autism.
- Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment, ensuring that all students feel respected, valued, and supported.
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following qualifications and skills:
- A relevant degree or diploma in Special Educational Needs, Education, or a related field, with a focus on ASD or a willingness to undertake further training.
- Previous experience working with children with autism spectrum disorder, either in an educational or care setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents/carers, and the wider school community.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to supporting the academic, social, and emotional needs of students with ASD.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of effective behaviour management strategies and a understanding of the principles of inclusive education.
- Familiarity with assistive technologies and adaptations that can support students with ASD in the classroom.
In return for your dedication and expertise, our client is offering a competitive daily rate of £95-£105, commensurate with your qualifications and experience. This is a part-time position, with the opportunity to work flexible hours that accommodate your schedule and commitments.
