Job Description

TheHearing and Balance Service at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is lookingfor an enthusiastic Audiologist to join our Adult Rehabilitation andDiagnostics team. Basedin our newly developed department at Seacroft Hospital, just outside Leedscity centre, the Hearing and Balance Service offers modern facilities andprovides a comprehensive range of audiology services across multiple sitesfor patients of all ages. Our service includes adult diagnostics andrehabilitation, implantable hearing devices and vestibular assessmentclinics.

Youwill hold a BSc in Audiology, BSc Healthcare Science (Audiology) orequivalent, and be registered, or in the process of registering, with Healthand Care Professions Council, Registration Council for Clinical Physiologistsor Academy for Healthcare Science.

Main duties of the job

Asa Band 5 Audiologist within the Hearing and Balance Service at Leeds TeachingHospitals NHS Trust, you will be part of the Adult Rehabilitation andDiagnostics team delivering high-quality audiology care to adult patients.Working alongside experienced Audiologists, Associate Practitioners andadministrative staff, you will contribute to a busy clinical servicesupporting patients with hearing difficulties.

Yourrole will include undertaking a range of adult audiology assessments,providing hearing aid fittings and follow-up care, and supporting patientsthrough their hearing rehabilitation journey. You will manage your ownclinical caseload while working collaboratively within the widermultidisciplinary team to deliver safe, effective and patient-centred care.

Theservice operates across ten sites, with the main base at Seacroft Hospital.This provides a varied and engaging working week, with opportunities to workin a range of clinic environments as well as supporting domiciliary servicesfor patients who are unable to attend clinic appointments.

Youwill be supported by senior clinicians and have opportunities to contributeto service development, training and quality improvement initiatives whiledeveloping a broad range of clinical skills within a large and innovative NHSaudiology service.

Job responsibilities

ThisBand 5 Audiologist role offers a varied and rewarding clinical experiencewithin the Hearing & Balance Service at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHSTrust. You will work closely with Team Leaders, contributing to day-to-dayservice delivery while developing specialist skills in sub-specialist areasof audiology. The role combines routine and non-routine tasks, providing adynamic and engaging working week across multiple clinical sites, includingcommunity clinics (Ear, Nose and Throat and Adult Hearing Aid Aftercare) anddomiciliary visits.

Youwill manage your own clinical caseload, provide hearing assessments, hearingaid fittings, hearing aid repair and maintenance and rehabilitation, and givesupport to junior staff and trainees. You will develop sub-specialist skills,such as basic tinnitus advice, and contribute to service improvementprojects. You will be required to participate in training and educationprogrammes, including trust mandatory training, all within a supportive,collaborative team culture.

Therole requires proficiency with audiology systems such as Practice Navigatoror Auditbase, experience using hearing aid software, audiometry,tympanometry, and Real Ear Measurement equipment, and competence in standardIT systems such as Word, PowerPoint and Excel. You will work effectively bothindependently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, following policies andprocedures relevant to your specialist area, department, and the Trust, andembodying the Leeds Way values and behaviours.

Youwill contribute to aspects of service management, including performancemonitoring, health and safety, stock control, monitoring and orderingprocesses, and ensuring patient safety and safeguarding standards aremaintained. You will act as a positive role model for junior staff whilegaining exposure to service workflows and departmental projects. You willsupport continuous service improvement through the audit cycle and play anactive role in monthly team and staff meetings.

Qualifications
  • BSc Hons - Audiology from an accredited University or Equivalent
  • Be registered with an appropriate registration body or eligible for registration
  • Evidence of learning from other professionally appropriate sources, supervisory experience
