Member of the Bank's Treasury Accounting team responsible for maintaining the financial records for the Treasury department. Applies accounting rules and provides financial reporting, focusing on Treasury front office reporting and IFRS-compliant financial statements for Treasury portfolio.
BackgroundThe accounting teams within Financial Control prepare periodic and annual financial reports on behalf of the Bank and the Donor Funds. They set and maintain accounting policies and provide timely, accurate financial performance and position information for management.
The role interacts with various departments to coordinate receipt and analysis of information for internal and external reporting. The person responds to internal and external audit enquiries on areas of responsibility.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities- Prepares sections of the year end financial statements with required disclosures and notes accurately and to a tight deadline.
- Prepares periodic internal financial management reporting, including daily front office reporting to Treasury for market risk management.
- Assesses the impact of the latest IFRS accounting standards on EBRD's financial statements to ensure compliance.
- Ensures accounting policies are up to date and consistent with IFRS.
- Undertakes investigations and inspections of data under established procedures to identify and quantify potential accounting postings.
- Maintains accounting and reporting systems, files and other records to provide accurate and timely information.
- Reviews front office transactions booked in systems and posted to accounting for accuracy and appropriateness.
- Liaises with Operations and front office teams to resolve booking issues.
- Identifies solutions to non standard tasks/queries.
- Provides advice to internal clients on relevant financial products or transactions.
- Contributes to procedures to ensure the accounting department responds to the Bank's needs.
- Reviews and signs off on team members' journals for accuracy.
- Supervises and trains new team members and year end temporary staff.
- Produces work in compliance with the Bank's Internal Controls Framework.
- Liaises with internal and external auditors and responds to queries.
- Supports the Compass transformation project, including process design, system testing, data migration and implementation.
- Other ad hoc tasks as allocated by line manager.
- Educated to degree level.
- ACA qualified or equivalent, preferably with additional knowledge of financial markets and treasury products.
- Significant relevant accounting experience, preferably in a financial services setting with Treasury experience.
- Fluent English, both verbal and written.
- Statutory financial accounts preparation and/or audit experience on financial accounts.
- Strong numerical and financial skills with the ability to interpret financial information.
- Strong data analysis skills and experience with Tableau/Power BI or other data visualisation tools.
- Fully competent in own practice area.
- Working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards.
- Strong computer skills with emphasis on Excel.
- Experience with SAP or equivalent accounting system preferable.
