Associate Dean, Thomas College of Business and Economics

Join the Thomas College of Business and Economics at UNC Pembroke to advance student success, program development, and accreditation management as Associate Dean supporting the Dean and faculty.

Primary Purpose

The Associate Dean collaborates with faculty, staff, and students to manage academic programs, lead student initiatives, and maintain AACSB accreditation, ensuring continuous improvement and student ready graduates.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and oversee class schedules, faculty loads, and enrollment limits.
  • Ensure General Education needs in compliance with Course Program of Study and Center for Student Success.
  • Lead SACSCOC and AACSB accreditation initiatives, tracking faculty qualifications and reporting.
  • Develop and support the Passport to Professional Success program for student success.
  • Maintain and grow articulation agreements with partner institutions.
  • Serve as primary contact for Office of Global Engagement and international students.
  • Monitor and report on student initiatives, complaints, and grievance resolution.
  • Track completion of faculty evaluations and support chairs on departmental logistics.
  • Collaborate on student success initiatives and study abroad programs.
  • Create and oversee newsletters, social media, and website content for TCOBE.
  • Represent the college on campus wide committees and events.
  • Back up the Dean and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Terminal degree from an AACSB accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 7 years of higher education experience, including teaching.
  • At least 5 years in an administered faculty role or as Associate Dean or higher.
  • Experience working with registrar, advising, chairs, graduate and continuing studies on scheduling and student issues.
  • Knowledge of AA accreditation standards and data driven program review.
  • Strong teamwork ability and enthusiasm for student success and program building.
  • Desired preference for tenure at a 4 year institution.
Employment Conditions

Full time, 12 month appointment. Background check and employment eligibility verification required. Pay by direct deposit; Veterans Preference requires DD 214.
