Assistant Shift Manager

Location: Boston, Lincolnshire
Salary: £Up to 37,000 + Bonus + Benefits
Shift: 4 on 4 off Days & Nights
Sector: FMCG

Opportunity Overview

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well established FMCG manufacturing business that is currently undergoing significant investment and expansion. Working closely with the Shift Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient and compliant running of production operations whilst supporting the development of people, processes and performance across shift.

Non Negotiable Requirements
  • Previous experience within a Team Leader, Production Supervisor or Assistant Shift Manager position
  • Manufacturing, FMCG or Food Production experience
  • Experience managing and developing production staff
  • Strong Health & Safety and Quality focus
  • Comfortable working a 4 on 4 off days and nights shift pattern
Essential Requirements
  • Experience managing labour, productivity and shift performance
  • Knowledge of GMP, Food Safety and Hygiene standards
  • Ability to lead by example and drive operational standards
  • Experience completing audits, inspections and production checks
  • Strong communication and people management skills
  • Continuous Improvement mindset
Desirable Requirements
  • Food Manufacturing or Pet Food Manufacturing experience
  • Experience with Gemba walks and shop floor audits
  • Root Cause Analysis experience
  • Waste reduction and efficiency improvement experience
  • IOSH or equivalent Health & Safety training
Job Role
  • Supporting the Shift Manager with the day to day running of production operations
  • Conducting regular Gemba walks to ensure safety, quality and hygiene standards are maintained
  • Monitoring production performance and supporting Continuous Improvement activities
  • Managing staffing levels and labour utilisation across shift
  • Carrying out quality checks, audits and product inspections
  • Ensuring GMP, Food Safety and Health & Safety standards are adhered to at all times
  • Supporting waste reduction initiatives and identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Maintaining accurate production and quality documentation
  • Coaching, developing and supporting production teams
  • Driving a positive culture focused on safety, quality and performance
