We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, organised and adaptable Assistant Practice Manager to join our friendly rural GP practice on a maternity cover basis. As a key member of the management team, you will support the Practice Manager in the day-to-day running of the practice, helping to ensure that our patients continue to receive high quality care in a very welcoming and community/family environment.
Main duties of the jobThis varied role will involve supporting practice operations, staff management, the care navigation team and quality improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will work closely with clinical and administrative colleagues to maintain efficient systems and processes and respond to the evolving needs of the practice.

Job responsibilitiesThe post holder will:
- Take responsibility for the management of the administration staff.
- Ensure all financial claims are made in an effective and efficient manner.
- Maintain Clinical Services and Appointments systems.
- Ensure effective administration support.
- Manage all aspects of patient information across all branches.
- Provide appropriate assistance to the Practice Manager in all day-to-day activities and duties.
- Evaluate, organise and oversee staff induction and training and ensure that all staff are adequately trained to fulfil their role.
- Support Practice Manager in planning and co ordinating the recruitment, induction and training of new administrative staff.
- Plan and assist in planning and recruitment of Locum cover.
- Prepare and assist in the preparation of weekly and monthly shift planning for Practice Staff, arranging cover when necessary.
- Identify training and development needs for Practice staff.
- Ensure that all staff are legally and gainfully employed, monitor skill mix and deployment of staff.
- Maintain up to date HR documentation (including job descriptions, employment contracts and employment policies).
- Monitor staff annual leave, sickness and absence and mitigate any impact to practice staffing rotas.
- Ensure all Practice staff are aware of the need for confidentiality, both of patient and Practice information.

Person SpecificationQualifications
- GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths
- Previous experience working in primary care and on SystmOne
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and a submission for Disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service will be required to check for any previous criminal convictions.
