We are looking to recruit an experienced manager into our growing practice to support the practice managerin all aspects of practice functionality, including motivating and managing staff,optimising efficiency and overall performance ensuring the practice achieves itslong-term strategic objectives in a safe and effective working environment.
The Assistant Practice Manager will focus onthe day-to-day operability of the practice, HR, GDPR and Learning andDevelopment whilst promoting a positive working environment.
The successful candidate shouldhave experience in a management role and experience within HR ideally having worked in aGP practice.
Main duties of the jobThe Assistant practice manager is responsible for:
Supporting the practice managerin the day-to-day operations of the practice, ensuring staff achieve theirprimary responsibilities and patients are supported in their care.
To lead Human Resources ensuringmotivation and productivity of staff working in the practice ismaintained; policy and procedures are implemented, and staff reviews arein line with legislation.
Monitoring and maintaincompliance for health and safety and GDPR legislation.
Line managing staff whereappropriate and ensure team members are supported by a good appraisal systemand robust HR system.
Developing, implementing andembedding an effective practice training programme for all staff (clinical andadministrative) liaising with external agencies when necessary and maintaininga training record.

About usBedford Street Surgery isa two site practice located in Bletchley, Milton Keynes with a branch site inFurzton, Milton Keynes. We currently have over 16400 patients across bothsites and a supportive and care focused team.
We have a well establishedclinical MDT team consisting of paramedics, prescribing nurse practitioners,respiratory nurse, diabetes nurse, health care assistants, practice nurses, a pharmacist and gps who aresupported by our management and admin team of secretaries, care navigators and care coordinators.Bedford Street Surgery ispart of the South West Network where we are able to work together to provideour patients with additional services and care enhancing the practice with first contact practitioners, Integrated Support mental health services, dietician, social prescriber and health and wellbeing coaches.
We offer monthly mdt meetings, safeguarding meetings and shared care meeting to support patients and staff alike.
Job responsibilitiesThe following are the primary responsibilities ofthe Assistant Practice Manager practice manager.
There may be on occasion, arequirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such asworkload and staffing levels.
The Assistant practice manager is responsiblefor:
- Supportingthe practice manager in the day-to-day operations of the practice, ensuringstaff achieve their primary responsibilities and patients are supported intheir care.
- To lead Human Resources ensuring motivation and productivity of staffworking in the practice is maintained, policy and procedures are implemented, andstaff reviews are in line with legislation
- Monitoringand maintain compliance for health and safety and GDPR legislation.
- Linemanaging staff where appropriate and ensure team members are supported by agood appraisal system and robust HR system
- Developing,implementing and embedding an effective practice training programme for allstaff (clinical and administrative) liaising with external agencies whennecessary and maintaining a training record
- Towork with the care coordinator manager regarding IT issues, maintenance,reporting, auditing and contractual requirements.
- Ensuringthe clinical session structure is effective, meets the needs of the patients andmeets contractual requirements by regular reviews
- Supportingthe overall practice clinical governance framework, supporting with reports forQOF, enhanced services and other reporting requirements using CQRS or othersuch systems and undertake annual reporting and submissions to ensure practice maintaincompliance
- Supportthe team to improve accessibility, safe and effective working in the compilationof practice reports, audits and monitoring to plan, review and implement changeunder the direction of the practice manager

Person Specification Experience- Working with HR, legislation and contracts

- Experience of workforce planning
- NHS / Primary Care General Practice experience
- Experience of leading multidisciplinary teams
- Relevant health and safety experience
- Experience of producing agendas and minutes for meetings
